Compassion is a response to suffering. It requires that we see well the pain that is present, and that we respond to that pain with an attitude of kindness, and the wish to alleviate the suffering. Many of us are better at being compassionate towards others than we are with ourselves. Self-judgment, guilt, shame, and denial contribute to these difficulties.
This workshop will explore ways to help participants recognize the presence of self-suffering, understand what gets in the way of being kind to ourselves, and ways to overcome those blocks and increase self-compassion.
