The Brattleboro Retreat's Virtual Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs are designed to provide support, education, and transformation to those struggling with mental health challenges.
Are you finding that individual therapy isn’t enough?
This program is specifically designed to provide you with tools, strategies, and experiences that will help you become more resilient, empowered, and successful in living a meaningful and productive life. Through this strategically designed program, you will connect with others, gain insights about your experiences and behaviors, and learn practical skills for long-term success. This can be achieved from the privacy of your own home. While simply using a computer or smartphone, you will have access to a comprehensive team of licensed therapists, and psychiatric prescribers.
Virtual IOP/PHP at a Glance:
Our programs provide highly structured and supportive care to individuals who are struggling with mental health. Our primary focus is on group therapy, which is designed to provide a range of therapeutic experiences.
We offer two levels of programming:
- Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), which meets daily from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), which meets daily from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm
You will also meet weekly via internet (Zoom) with your clinician for individual therapy as well as with a prescriber for medication management.
Treatment may also include family and/or couple’s therapy if appropriate. Upon completion of treatment, your team will work with you to develop an aftercare plan that supports you in your next steps.
We believe people are resilient. We believe they can make significant changes in their lives that will strengthen their recovery from mental health and addiction challenges. We help every step of the way with expert care rooted in understanding and respect.
Our program utilizes the CARES approach:
COMMUNITY: We believe that health and recovery happen through connection to others. In group therapy sessions, we work together as a community to cultivate positive, supportive relationships.
AWARENESS: Often in our daily lives, we are confronted by many external stressors and challenges. We can also have difficulty tolerating our internal experiences (thoughts, feelings, sensations). When we avoid, disconnect or resist them, we tend to feel worse and have a greater tendency to engage in activities that keep us stuck. We teach concepts and skills that are vital in helping to change your relationship to these experiences and experience greater life satisfaction.
RELATIONSHIP: It is a powerful experience to be seen and heard by others. As you move through the program, it will become important to have the support, feedback and guidance from a trained therapist and your peers. This can be equally challenging and transformative.
EMBODIMENT: It’s one thing to talk about what you’re learning, it’s something else to experience it on a physical and emotional level. We believe that practice is an essential aspect of growth. You will engage in mindful practices that incorporate gentle body-based movement.
SYNTHESIS: We encourage you to view treatment as a whole, not as individual groups/experiences. Programming is designed to meet the unique needs of the individual as well as the community.
